The Alliance is thrilled to organize and host a trainer-only herd work day in Schulenburg, Texas. This is a great opportunity for trainers to work training horses on fresh cattle, build confidence as herd helpers and develop skills in settling cattle for clients at a show.
Details:
📅 Date: Wednesday, March 20, 2024
📍 Location: Dees Cattle Company, Schulenburg, TX
⏰ Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
💳 Cost: $200 per horse (Includes 4 head of cattle per horse, facility fee, breakfast, and lunch). $250 per horse for non-Alliance members.

What to Expect At This Ride:
✔ Learn and practice settling cattle, holding herd, and turning back from an experienced cutter.
✔ Learn how to help a competitor's run, without interfering or a rider being run-over and losing a cow.
✔ Work your horses on cattle while other trainers are practicing herd-helping
✔ Dees cattle as ample fresh cows and we'll have 4 head per horse.

Why Attend:
🔹 Better Skills = More Credibility – A well-rounded trainer who can confidently help riders at a show gains trust and recognition. Riders want trainers who understand how to manage cattle, read a herd, and provide the right support when it counts.
🔹 Faster Progression as a Competitor – The more you develop your cattle-handling and herd work skills, the better you perform in the arena. Stagnation happens when trainers don’t actively pursue growth—progress in this sport is directly tied to knowledge and experience.
🔹 We All Need Each Other to Succeed – Cutting isn’t a solo event. We all rely on good herd help to compete at our best. Investing in your ability to read cattle, apply pressure correctly, and make the right calls benefits not just you, but your entire team.
🔹 Helping Others Helps Your Business – The trainers who step up to support their clients and fellow competitors stand out. When you consistently help other riders in the show pen, you become a trainer others want to work with and recommend.
🔹 Cutting is One of the Most Watched Events – Cutting draws a crowd. The ability to manage cattle effectively, support riders, and create smooth runs doesn’t go unnoticed. Trainers who can handle herd work and turnback roles with skill and confidence earn respect and recognition in the industry.
Ongoing education isn’t an expense—it’s an investment in your reputation, your career, and your ability to compete at the highest level.
We will limit the number of horses to 20 ensuring enough fresh cattle for good works—reserve yours today! You must be a professional trainer or coach to attend this event.
